About Us
Our company began collecting labor information in 1989 with a program that recorded actual labor times from invoices written by a group of shops in the Tampa and St. Petersburg area of Florida. This information was reviewed, analyzed and researched for the following seven years to arrive at the base times that are contained within our labor guide.
Our research team found that labor times depend on a number of factors, how a car is equipped, where a component is located, the condition of the car, the availability of specialty tools, specific repair information, and the ability of the mechanic, are all factors that come into play when determining a fair labor quote. Customers continually tell us "My books don't give enough time." Our initial group of Automotive Experts® told us the same thing. In fact, our labor time studies show that 83% of our correction requests ask for more time. This dynamic nature of the labor guide gives you an advantage. You get a high, average, and a low time on every job, and you can add diagnostic time when needed. It lets you decide what time is right for each job.
Other electronic information systems force you to go to the bottom of the page to find the proper add-on information you need, and most of the time that information can't be seen at the same time as the labor time. We solved that problem by asking you any additional information before the quote itself to arrive at the proper labor time. This system will always ask you if you'd like to add diagnostic time, and is built to handle just about any possibility you could imagine.
In 1995 we implemented our "Accuracy Bounty Program". This program encourages customers (even trial users) to suggest improvements and refinements that they feel should be made to the labor guide, this helps us to improve the accuracy of the program. A seven dollar credit for each improvement that is used is given to the reporting shop. This credit or bounty may be used for future updates or upgrades provided by our company. Improvements and refinements are investigated and may be benchmarked against existing industry manuals. In some cases, an inspection of the vehicle is necessary. Actual field times are obtained from our customer base of which a wealth of professional talent and expertise can be obtained. Changes are made as each situation warrants.
Each year we inspect the new cars to insure the accuracy of our labor times. Although we only do a visual inspection, the information from this annual evaluation is analyzed and compared to our current information, and a determination is made on what the new labor times for the latest models should be.
We are dedicated to accurate labor times, and you deserve the best you can get. Call (800)865-0111 or mail or fax your request right now. You'll be amazed at the speed, accuracy and ease of use this program will give you.
